LOUNGE & KITCHENETTE
PROJECT BY EMILY COOK
It’s often difficult to find places fit for working on creative projects that provide adequate space and facilities, while also providing a space that inspires creativity. W.I.T.C.H is a coworking studio space for local creatives. The acronym stands for work, inspire, teach, create, and host, which embodies everything the space has to offer. Located in Montreal, in a neighborhood on Laurier street East, the building is accessible to a variety of users. Any local creative with a membership may use the studio spaces to work on their projects. Whether it’s for their creative business or a hobby, W.I.T.C.H. has a variety of studio spaces for all types of creative work. There is a large exhibition space that can host art shows, fashion shows, pop up shops and many other events to display the members' work to the public. While the exhibition space would not be for everyday use, there is a retail shop on the main level of the building which is always accessible to the public. This shop provides a space for the members to sell their work.
The design of W.I.T.C.H. plays into magical qualities to create a space of inspiration. From the moody and colorful selection of finishes, to the high ceilings with curving hallways and staircases, the interior of this space ensures that every user is met with a magical experience upon entering the building.
