THE DIG -
URBAN WINERY

PROJECT BY CHLOE KEENS-PARKER

‘The Dig’ is an urban winery designed to create an accessible experience for wine drinkers while supporting the entire winemaking production from grape harvesting to aging. The interconnection between discovery and winery design has enriched the experience of a winery for centuries, which is the goal for ‘The Dig’. The urban winery supports its users through fostering a sense of escapism, promoting the exploration of wine through designing customer friendly wine production areas and creating spaces that support the discovery of wine.

‘The Dig’ is set to be located in Downtown Toronto in David Pecaut Square in efforts to reinforce a traditional winery experience by surrounding the winery with natural elements and catering to the Toronto Demographic. Sampling, discovering and ‘getting away’ are all factors of the winery experience that people travel out of their way for.

‘The Dig’ eliminates the long commute to rural wineries to make it a more attainable experience for wine lovers and new wine drinkers. ‘The Dig’ will encompass a space designed to assist the user's discovery of all things wine.
